Pa Hin Ngam National Park, Chaiyaphum, Thailand

Pa Hin Ngam National Park, Chaiyaphum, ThailandChaiyaphum province is one of the least visited regions in Thailand, which is strange, because the natural attractions found there are hard to beat. If you have traveled anywhere in Thailand before, you will be pleased when you visit Chaiyaphum.

Pu Lan Ka, Sai Thong, and Pa Hin Ngam – forests in Chaiyaphum that have been established as national parks – are already famous for their strangely shaped, unique rock formations, and the gorgeous Dok Kra Jiao flower fields. In Pa Hin Ngam National Park, surrounded by assorted small trees and orchids, some rocks are in the shape of nails, whereas others look like Naga (mythical serpents) heads, or ancient castles. Primarily, though, the park is carpeted with the queen of Thailand’s flowers, the pink and white Dok Kra Jiao flowers, which beautifully adorn all parts of the park. The largest such fields in the country.

Pa Hin Ngam National Park, Chaiyaphum, ThailandThe Pa Hin Ngam National Park, which is 100 km from Chaiyaphum’s Muang district and 270 km from Bangkok, is found in Ban Rai subdistrict, Tep Satit district, Chaiyaphum province. Long popular with Chaiyaphum locals, in 1985, the Tep Satit Forestry Department conducted a survey of the present day park, and discovered exquisitely shaped rock formations that had ben thrown up by a changing Earth.. A decision was then made that the area should be conserved as a tourist and relaxation zone. It became a conservation area, and in October 1986, a 10 sq km area was settled as the Pa Hin Ngam Park. In 1993, the Forestry Department of Thailand conducted a more thorough local survey, and found that the surrounding areas also exhibited astounding geological formations, and that the area should become a national park. Eventually, on 19th September 1994, around 112 sq km of area was established as the Pa Hin Ngam National Park.

Pa Hin Ngam National Park, Chaiyaphum, ThailandThe Hin Ngam Rock Ground covers an area of 10 rai, full of some of the most unusual rock formations you will ever have seen. It is believed that the rocks were initially thrown up out of an angry earth, and have become eroded by time, wind, and rain over the aeons. The Hin Ngam Rock Ground makes you wonder at the beauty of nature, and the strange features of the rocks. It is located at the park’s western edge, and is easily accessible by road.

Accommodations : In the park, camping sites are provided. For further information, please contact the Pa Hin Ngam National Park, PO Box 2, Por Tor Jor Tepsatit, Chaiyaphum, 36230, Tel: 01-930-7581.
